Abstract:
The construction of the otherness is a common phenomenon o all the societies, by means of which a different ‘other’ is delimited to the ‘we’ who enunciates. In the process of delimiting the otherness, the identities are established, for what it is possible to observe a double movement of construction of the identity: the identification for the equality is reflected by contrasting the difference. Thus, the human groups manage, by delimiting ‘the other’, to give form to “we”.
In the case of Hellas, the forms of representing the otherness in the Greek Persian imagery will be discussed, analyzing the rhetoric that was introduced from the Persian Wars to the conquest of Alexander the Great of the Achaemenid empire, through literary sources.
